Wanted Games / Battlesphere
« on: July 17, 2018, 03:34:37 am »
I also wanted Battlesphere, but never bought it.  That game did come out, but it was pretty rare.  Not too many of them where produced.  I did, on the other hand, own a Catbox.  I had Aircars.   That was also a first perspective shooter but a different game.  Aircars and Catbox came out way before Battlesphere did.  Didn't Battlesphere come out after official support ceased?

Why was I enthusiastic about that game?  Scatologic where very passionate about their project!  That is when videogames become an art, when the developers care about their project.  Of course Atari products are not the only example of this (when it happens that way), but sometimes it seems like the developers are not passionate about their projects.  The game development is driven by management so they do what has succeeded in the past.  Then you get more driving games and more first perspective army shooters.  Not that there isn't a place for those but pushing the boundaries of realism is not necessarily an exercise in creativity.

When I think of Atari I sometimes think back to the late 70's and early 80's, when Atari had a lot of talent and videogames were new so people were trying different things.  Sega had a lot of creativity too back then.  Lots of experimentation.

Maybe I'm writing just to write?

Some people like more of the same thing that they are used to.  Others like to see something new.

I could probably come up with a hundred ideas but who is going to read them?

Wanted Games / Legions Of The Undead
« on: July 10, 2018, 03:18:33 am »
Atari Fans,

Rebellion, the company that did Aliens Vs Predator had something called Legions of the Undead.

When I saw the pics in the magazine many years ago, I wanted to have this game.

Honestly, I don't know exactly what it would have been like if it was finished but
back then I was honestly impressed.
